Pointe Burgos is dived from Grande Anse d’Arlet. It is a headland dropping to about thirty metres, backed by a sheer wall running down to sixty.

Our records also enter it as Pointe Burgos Nord and Burgos Nord. It is the same headland, and one of our most dived sites.

The shoal at thirteen metres

That is the signature of the site. Around thirteen metres a shoal of large snappers holds station, five to seven kilos apiece, alongside porgies, grunts and rainbow parrotfish.

Thirteen metres is within everyone’s reach. You do not need to go deep to see the best of Pointe Burgos, which is rare on a site that drops this far.

A sheer wall, and what it asks of you

Below the headland the face falls vertically towards sixty metres. A sheer wall gives no bottom reference: you see nothing beneath you, and depth is gained without noticing.

That is why you check your computer more often here than elsewhere. It is not a difficult site, it is a site that gives no warning.
