Grande Caye

A plateau, and a surprising diversity of corals

Town : Sainte-Luce

Grande Caye is dived from Corps de Garde, in Sainte-Luce. It is a site we often pair with 3 Vallées in the same day.

A plateau, not a wall

Unlike most of our sites, Grande Caye is not a vertical relief but a plateau. You explore it flat, sweeping slowly, and the depth stays modest.

What makes it valuable is the diversity of its corals: it is impressive, and you find side by side forms usually met on different sites.

The right site to learn to look

A shallow, calm plateau is the best place to stop swimming and start seeing. There is no current to manage, no depth to watch, no wall calling you down.

Settle in front of a coral head and stay two minutes. The shoals of small fish that seemed to flee come back, and the coral fills with life that was there all along.
