The Nahoon is a three-masted ship lying at thirty-six metres, off Saint-Pierre. It is one of the sites we visit most.
A wreck is not a rock
You follow a wall; you go around a wreck. It has a bow, a stern, fallen masts, a deck: landmarks that give the dive a thread a natural relief does not have.
That is also what makes it gripping. You are not just looking at scenery, you are reading a ship, and you always end up wondering how it got there.
Thirty-six metres, and what that means
At that depth the dive runs on a clock. Air goes faster than at the surface, nitrogen builds up, and no-stop time shrinks quickly.
This is not a site to linger on: you go down, you visit, you come up. The briefing before entry matters more here than elsewhere.
