Neptune’s Garden

The continuation of Turtle Bay, with its lobster tenements

A colourful coral bottom full of crevices
The crevices, where everything hides.

Neptune’s Garden is the continuation of Turtle Bay. Where the bay ends, this one drops towards twenty metres. We often dive the two in the same outing.

The lobster tenements

That is what we call them, and it describes them well: stacked crevices where lobsters settle one above another, sometimes five or six in the same block.

You spot the antennae before the animal. They come out at night and spend the day sheltered: by day you have to light up under the overhangs to find them.

Barracuda, and why they hang still

The site holds them regularly. A motionless barracuda in mid-water always impresses a diver meeting one for the first time, jaw ajar and teeth showing.

It threatens nothing: it is saving energy while waiting for a fish to come within reach. It will let you approach a while, then move aside without hurrying.
