Cap Salomon
A drop-off over thirty metres, and what runs along it
Town : Les Anses d'Arlet
Cap Salomon is one of the best known sites in southern Martinique, and one of our busiest. It is dived north of Grande Anse, in Les Anses d’Arlet.
The drop-off
It falls over some thirty metres, rich in colour and in life. You simply follow it, wall on one side, blue on the other.
It is the most restful way there is to dive: no searching, no tricky navigation, you follow the relief and you look.
Look towards the blue
The beginner’s mistake is to watch only the wall. But it is the large pelagics that patrol this drop-off, and they pass on the open side, in the blue, often above or below the group.
A glance seaward every minute completely changes what you bring back from a dive at Cap Salomon.
What level you need here
| Your level | What you can do here |
|---|---|
| Level 1 | The top of the drop-off, down to 20 m |
| Level 2 and above | The whole wall, to around thirty metres |
The water here is known to be calm, which makes it a reassuring site for a new diver discovering the feeling of empty space below.
